David and Jenny took over Puddle Duck Lodge in September 2018 and refurbished it throughout, room by room and garden by garden.

What they kept was the quiet: an adults-only house where the loudest thing at breakfast is birdsong in the garden.

Run by its owners since 2018. Every booking is handled by the people who will hand you the hamper.

Getting around

The house stands on Biskey Howe Road, a quiet residential street above the lake. Most of Bowness is walkable from the door, and ferries leave from Bowness Pier if you want the far shore without the car.

An easy evening

The walk back from the lake is gently uphill, so give yourself a few extra minutes after dinner. The lanes are quiet at night, which is exactly the point of staying here.
